If you don't have access to one of these, the next in line is pedialyte. That's something parents are familiar with - it's what you give sick children. You find it in the baby aisle at the grocery or pharmacy.
But what if you don't have that either (Whaaa? You didn't get my memo about the first aid kit?)
You DIY of course!
Because let's face it. When do birds get sick? Midnight on Sunday. When the stores are all closed. So here you go, my fellow procrastinators.

Sounds like we're making a cake, doesn't it?
Step by Step InstructionsFill a 2 liter container with warm water (helps it dissolve)
Add 1 tablespoon sugar
Add 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Mix well and let it rest on the counter until ready to use. Refrigerate unused portions.
Quick and Easy! And may save your birds. Stir or Shake before serving.
How to use: Replace drinking water with this, or if handfeeding babies replace water every other feeding with this solution. Use for sick birds, tired-looking birds, just-shipped finches and canaries.
*If you are in my Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/352446556068130/, you might notice the recipe is a little different. The difference happened because this video used more water - so I changed it up accordingly.
